Intensive Language & Culture in Kyoto Japan 2016 Program

Florida International University offers a variety of study abroad programs, I chose to study Japanese language and Culture in Kyoto, Japan. The best part of Kyoto is that this city is one of Japan's best preserved cities with many areas designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.  This program allows students to be immersed in the language and learn first hand different cultural aspects of Japanese society. Students attend one of Japan's top university, Ritsumeikan University. This experience gave me the opportunity to grow as an individual, become more independent and helped me develop my interpersonal skills. During my time in Japan, I was able to visit places such as Kinkaku-ji, Kiyomizu Temple, Fushimi Inari Shrine, Todai-ji, Ryoanji Temple and the Bamboo Forest in Arashiyama. I was also able to experience meditation at the Zen Garden in Ryoanji, played games with Maiko-san and Geiko-san, try on traditional Japanese clothing for the summer called Yukata and make tea for a Tea Ceremony.
